Jim (James)'s Story

Life Living in Casa Grande, Arizona. Joined the US Air Force right out of high school (1962). Retired after 25 years and attended DeVry Institute of Tech. Graduated with an AA in electronics. Procurred a job as a radio tech with Motorola in Casa Grande. That job lasted almost two years when they downsized and sold the communication division to someone else. I continued in the same line of work on my own for another 5 years. Applied for an Electronic Technician with the Casa Grande Elementary School District, but did not have the right qualifications. Was asked about the position of HVAC mechanic and took it. Eleven years later I am still doing the same job, must be doing something right. Married Peggy Sue Moore, a 1963 graduate from Artesia High, in 1963. Peggy retired from the National Parks Svcs. and the Federal in January of 2006 after 30 years service. We have 2 daughters, 1 lives near Akron, OH, the other is living at home with us and working as an assist manager at the Sonic resturant in Casa Grande. Peggy and I have been married over 44 years now. While in the Air Force, we were stationed at Little Rock Air Force Base; Kadena Air Base, Okinawa (where our first daughter was born); Davis-...Expand for more
Monthan AFB, Tucson, AZ; Pentagon, Washington DC; Ramstein AB, Germany (where our second daughter was born), and finally Laughlin AFB, Del Rio, Texas. I retired in 1987 and we moved to Albuquerque were Peggy and our youngest daughter lived while I attended DeVry in Phoenix. I moved to Casa Grande in 1990 and Peggy and Misty joined me in the Fall of 1990. We had a house built in 1992 and have been here ever since. Workplace My current job is HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning). Of course the latter portion of the title is most important here in sunny Arizona. I enjoy my work although it does get pretty warm on the roofs in the afternoon sun during the Summer months. When a system goes down, I enjoy the challenge of determining what the problem is. Usually it turns out to be something simple, but once in a while it turns out to be a real brain teaser. That's the ones I enjoy the most. I also work with large water chillers and boilers, also restaurant type freezers and refrigerators. Military In the USAF from July 1962 till September 1987. Stationed at Little Rock, Arkansas; Kadena, Okinawa; Tucson, Arizona; Washington DC (Pentagon); Ramstein, Germany; and finally Del Rio, Texas.
